Let all who are disposed to respond to that c:ry, in any form, assemble at the Courthouse on Tuesday evening next al early candle light. Macon, November 9, 1835. Macon, Nov. 12, 1335. In obedience to the above notice, (which had been circulated through our city,) a very numerous and respectable meeting of citizens convened at the Court-House, for the purpose of expressing their feelings relative to the struggle for freedom now commencing in Texas, and to devise means to aid the citizens that country in their glorious cause; Levi Eckley; Esq. was called to the chair, and S. Rose appointed secretary. The meeting was opened by A. P. Powers, Esq., in a short and patriotic speech, at the close of which, he offered the annexed resolu tiotions. John Rutherford, Esq. addressed the meeting giving a concise oulline of the causes that have made the present struggle necessary, and of the present condition of the country. Samuel M. Strong, Esq. made an eloquent address, principally with regard to the feelings with which every American citizen, and friend of freedom should view the struggle in Texas, against the usurpations of tyr~n_ny, for the destruction of the right heretofore guaranteed to her c1t1zens.
