To the Permanent Council of Texas Gentlemen
As the Question of the rights of the Indians will, on the reassembling of the Consultation of Texas, claim its imrnec!iate Action, the Undersigned, has been requested by a Number of respectable Sellers in the Vicinity of the Cherokees to suggest to your Honble. Body the appointment of Commissioners Lo treat with the Indians for their Possessary right of the Lands they are now occupying and the putting them in possession of other Lands upon such terms, as will best secure their Rights Should they be unwilling to leave their present Possessions; that the same Commissioners be authorized to arrange with their Chiefs, the Boundaries of their Lands, and the Conditions upon which they will Le permitted to remain in the quiet and undisturbed possession of the same And further that thos Individuals whose lands interfere with, or are in the near vicinity of the Indian Settlements, by their relinquishing it shall receive fl~ats for the same quantity to be laid on any vacanl Land in the Territory and that they should receive for their lmprovemenls, and the expences to be incured by the Exchange, a fair compensation in Lands, or other equivalent
