have been ours on the sixt.h hour after setting down before it- The same may be said of Mortars- With these, and what will be got from Bexar, we can fortify every seaport Town in Texas, and that well loo, and every other fort the service may require- The mortars & bombs, will be serviceable to keep shipping & at a distance, & blow them up. For gods sake, fail not in ordering, and that quickly, those pieces- Powder, Lead &c- and grape & Cannister Shot- But never again send fowd Battering Cannon, without Round shot- We are in hopes of soon seeing the heavy pieces, and when we do, if not before, you shall soon hear of the fall of Bexar. We have abouL60_Q.. m.en__i_n _Camp- but whether all will remain, until they do arrive, I am unable lo say- but I fear- If the enemy receives no re-inforcements, we have now enough to take them, with the Battering Cannon & round shot.
