Tejas is to support the Federal Constitution of 1824, and to oppose Centralism. It is understood that the people of Goliad, and Victoria are in favor of the same cause, we are defending. You will therefore spare no pains to inform them of our principles-and get them to pronounce for the same Cause and elect members to the Consultation which has been post poned till the 1st clay of November. You will send as many men to join the army as can be spared, so as not to endanger the objects mentioned in the communication. S. F. Austin, Commander gr. [829] [COLLINSWORTH STATEMENT) This certifies that, at an election held in the cuartel of the Town of Goliad this day by the volunteers under the command of Captain Geo. M. Collinsworth, for the election of a Delegate t~ the Counsel of War at Gonzales, formed for the provisional direction of the military operations of the Texas volunteers near the western frontier, untill the organization of the Permanent civil counsel at the Town of San Felipe de Austin, to be composed of one Delegate from each committee of Safety throughout Texas, Maj. Benjamin J. While received the unanimous vote of said company for Delegate as aforesaid. In testimony whereof, I hereby issue to the said White this instrument of voting as his authority to proceed immediately to Gonzales and lake his place, as above provided, in said councel of War.
