I have little doubt but that the Alamo has fallen- whether above particulars are aU true may be questionable. You are therefore referred to the enclosed order. I am, sir, &c., Sam Houston. In corroboration of the truth of the fall of the Alamo, I have ascertained that Colonel Travis intended firing signal guns at three different periods of each day until succor should arrive. No signal guns have been heard since Sunday, though a scouting party have just reh1rned who approached within twelve miles of it, and remained there forty-eight hours. To the Honorable the President and Convention,
In obedience to your resolution of yesterday directing your Secretary to hand Copies of said resolution to the late Gov. Henry Smith, the late Lent Gov. Robison and late Council, the auditor of public accounts Comptroller and Treasurer of the late Provisional Government, and receive all Books papers &c connected with said government; Begs leave to report, That, he has delivered copies of said resolution to all the said persons, the Treasurer excepted who is not in the town of Washington, and was informed, by. Gov. Smith verbally that he would ask leave of the Convention to explain his situation as to the Books papers &c in his charge By Lieutenant Gov Robison, verbally that all the Books papers &c. in his charge are ready to be delivered as required By the late Council, by their written communication herewith enclosed, that aU the Books papers &c are ready to be delivered over as required. The Comptroller by his written Communication herewith enclosed expresses his readiness to comply with your resolution The Auditor informed your Secretary verbally that in relation to the subject of his Books papers &c he would, he would
