He mandado ya dos practicos al general Gaona, de quien no me ha sido dable adquirir ninguna noticia, por diligencias que he practicado; y estoy tomando medidas para dar cumplimiento a todas las demas prevenciones a que se contraen las respetables superiores ordenes de V. E., a que tengo el honor de contestar, al mismo tiempo que el de reiterarle las protestas de toda mi subordinacion y respeto. Dios y libertad. (2791] [GREEN to HUBBLE] Know ye, That reposing special trust and confidence in the honor, patriotism, fidelity and abilities of Henry A. Hubbel Esq., I have appointed and do by these presents appoint, and constitute Henry Hubbel Captain in the Second regiment of my brigade; having full and ample authority so to do from David G. Burnet, President of the Republic of Texas, and his Cabinet-as such he will obey all lawful commands which he may receive from the Officers appointed over him, and I do hereby enjoin all Officers, Subalterns and Privates of the Army of Texas, who may be placed under his command, to render at all times, ready and respectful obedience to his lawful orders.
