Genl. Stephen F. Austin Sir

That of Arms being my only proffession and which I embraced at the early age-of Seventeen and having participated in three of the most severe conflicts in our late War Chippewa, Bridgwater, & Ft. Evin I take this liberty of addressing you and offering my services in the cause of Texas-My rank in the line of the United States Army was that of a first Lt. of Light artillery and have discharged the duties of Brigade Inspecter and afterward Aid de Camp to the Late Major Genl. Ripley now a Representative from Louis. I can produce every satisfactory testimony for character and capability for the Field or Beaureau and if you can offer me rank and means for equipment-I am prepared to join in the struggle for the independence and establishment of a free and Republican Government. Your early reply will meet with immediate attention. By your Obd. and very humble servt.
