Dios y libertad. Cuartel general de Harrisbourg, Abril 15 de 1836. - Antonio Lopez de Santa-Anna. - Escmo. Sr. general de division D. Vicente Filisola. [2777] [TRIPLETT to BURNET] Enclosed I send you a contract, with Ritson Morris for half a League of land, contributed to the Government. In this way I believe that a few active men could soon raise the means necessary for the expenses of the war, the loan at 8 pr cent I do not think can be relied on, for at 10 pr ct, any amount of money can be safely invested in the United States-the remainder of the $200,000 Dollars will probably be taken unless Genl. Houston gets beaten, or what will be equivalent to that, the enemy should overrun the country-a victory by Genl. H. will almost ensure the taking of that loan-that however of the other and private contributions should be immediately obtained on the terms of Morris or else I see no substantial basis for the support of the army-Rest assured however that I shall use all reasonable means to effect the desired object, on this and other subjects I wished to have seen you, but as Dr Niblett proposes going to get his business completed, I conclude to write by him To His Excellency President Burnet, Sir
Yrs very Respectfully R. Triplett
