produce il. I declined looking al it, being very angry with my brother for the part he had taken, and I returned to Nacogdoches. While I was among the Cherokees, Bowles showed me his commission from the Mexican Government making him lieutenant colonel, his pay lo commence so soon as he and his tribe should lake up arms against the Tcxians. My object in coming to Natchitoches, at the present time, is to ascertain if two men, Manuel Flores and Medrano, were here, or where they are; as they are supposed to be engages raising the Indians against Texas. All I can learn of them is, they left here about a month since, and no one knows where they went. The above is, in substance, what Miguel de Cortinez communicated to General Gaines, through me as interpreter, this day.
