To his Excellency the President and members of the Cabinet Gent

Your petitioner would respectfully represent that he is detained as a prisoner and not knowing the charge against him, and being desirous to have a hearing on the subject of his detention, if it is not compatible with the interest of the Republic at this time, your petitioner would most respectfully ask of your honor to suffer your petitioner the limits of the Town by his giving sufficient security for the same. I am desirous and anxious that your Honorable body will take the subject of your petitioners request into consideration as soon as compatible with your several duties Which in duty bound your petitioner will ever pray &c Peter Kerr
