Agreeably to your order I dispatched a detatchment of men under Capt. Stanly to arrest the three men- Franks-Cooper & Morrison. Capt. S. Arrived at this place last evening with Franks & a man named Morrison: but evidently not the Morrison you intended to have arrested; as this Morrison had but just arrived in the Country. Cooper cannot be found or heard of. Him & Morrison must be in the Mexican navy-or at Matamoras. I am using every effort to get our fortification thrown up here, as we now have the best of evidence of the enemy's intention of possessing himself of this port, if possible. We are in great want of heavy ordinances for the Fort-I trust the Sec. of the Navy will give orders for one of the vessels of war to remain at this place until we are somewhat prepared to receive the enemy-I congratulate you on our late success on the water-The Bravo it appears is done for-We have a fine prize here-The Cargo of the Brig Pocket-provisions mostly & in good time-besides, being a
