I have forwarded 2 field pieces with directions to my Asst Col. Pittman, to forward them with all possible dispatch. I shall be on in two or three days with a freight of stores on board the steam Boat. You will please direct Col. Pittman the best course to pursue to have teams in readiness to transport stores to the Army

(General Houston:]

This very moment two men arrived from toward San Felipe, who say the enemy must be, by this time, in that town, in full force. They state that one division of the enemy has passed above, pointing the head of their column for Nacogdoches; the other column below, aiming for Matagorda.
