To Col. Bowen & Capt. Black

You are hereby authorised to proceed with all possible expedition and raise as many men as possible for the Service of Texas, also to press Army ammunition &c for the use of the troops you may raise-and you arc fully empowered to stop and arrest all deserters and to convey the same safety to the army, informing·the inhabitants generally that those persons who refuse to asist in repelling the Enemy that their property will be confiscated for the use of the Government.-You are strictly enjoined to carry these instructions into full effect. To Daniel Pittman Asst Qr Mr. Sir

I have forwarded on board the Sloop Ohio two field pieces which you will cause to be transported to the army with all possible dispatch also some flour. You will see that some of Lhem is on the road immediately. I shall be up on the Steam Boat with a freight of stores, have all the teams in readiness that can be procured in readiness. Capt.
