Vermillionville April 8 1836

My dear Sir,

I have just arrived here after stopping at Opelousas & delivering your letter to Dect. Lyons- You have probably seen him before they will reach you, as he informed me of his intention of starling immediately for N. Orleans according to your suggestion- It gives me pleasure to be able to say to you that the sympathies awaked in behalf of the brave Texian, are equaled only by the most sanguine expectations of their friends- My object in writing you is to say that after inquiry I am satisfied that you had better rely upon this immediate vicinity for a few hundred horses of the best quality for your business-being capable of enduring great fatigue, of great fleetness & able to be kept fat upon grass. You may establish an agency here for their purchase at from $35 to $40 per head-But it must be a cash business altogether- Now if you & your friends are ready to advance any sum of money for the purpose, it may be placed in any hands you please, subject to the order of an agent for the purchase of horses- A friend of mine, will acquainted with the business & the country, informs me he can purchase 300 in 2 weeks notice. They are the same animals that are very rare al Natchitoches, & command there at this time $100 at least- I will attend to any suggestions on the subject, addressed to me al Opelousas- I find it impossible to manage my affairs so as to leave the country, until sometime in the month of May- I am Sir very respectfully Your Obt Svt Cabb Green
