To all to whom these presents may come. Greetings
Know thal I Thomas J Green Brigadier General in the Texas Army in pursuance of a commission of Captaincy in the Second brigade of my regiment this day granted to Henry A. Hawkins. I do hereby empower him to make such appointments in his company as may seem to him fit and proper. I further by these obligate myself to confirm his appointments- Said Hawkins is required as soon as he shall be in readiness to report himself & command al Head Quarters, until otherwise ordered.

To His Excellency
David G. Burnet Pres. of the Republic of Texas. Dear Sir:
I wrote you a few hurried lines from this place, immediately upon my arrival here on the 6th, inst. urging upon the Government the absolute necessity of immediately taking steps to save her credit in this city by sustaining the credit of their agency in the house of William Bryan, & Co which house is under responsibility for the Government at this time for about $90,000, and which bills arc hourly becoming due. I give it as my opinion, that if the Government permit the credit of this agency tu go down with these responsibilities on her account, that her credit will be irrcparibly injured in the United States. All that I have Leen able lo asscrtain hy much inquiry, this agency has done much
