To Col. Robert Triplett or in his absence Messrs Hall & Bryan New Orleans
Sir I request you will procure and furnish to Capt. Wm A. Hurd, of the Texian Schooner Brutus, three tons of pig Iron to be used as ballast. Your prompt compliance will confer a favor on this Government.

Sir I have requested you to furnish Capt William A. Hurd of The Texian Schooner Brutus with the sum of three thousand dollars for the use of that vessel. In addition I beg you would pay Capt Hurd one thousand dollars to be appropriated to the Schooner Independence Capt Hawkins, of our Navy. Capt H; will bring out the money and pay it over to Capt Hawkins.

P.S. Should Col. T. and Messrs Hall & Bryan be unprepared to comply with the above, Capt Hurd will please call on Toby & Brothers & present it to them stating the fact that we arc too much pressed with business here to do any thing in strict form.
