The hands so employed will be settled with and similar certificates to those given in payment for stock. These certificates you will issue yourself, taking care to keep a correct record of all the certificates you give.

Sir Capt William A Hurd, of the Texian Schooner Brutus, visits New Orleans for certain purposes connected with the service. Capt. Hurd will probably require about three thousand dollars to effect his purposes. If you can furnish him that amount, you will confer a favor on this Government. Your Obedient Servant David G.
