To Gen. Sam Houston Commander in Chief of the Army of Texas Sir

I wrote to you yesterday by Cap. J. W. Moore. Cap. Smith who had been despatched a few days ago with some men for the purpose of transporting two field pieces which were at Brazoria to your camp returned last evening in company with Cap. Allen. They bring information that the cannon with all the public stores had been shiped on board of vessels for Galveston Bay. I immediately despatched the steam boat down with orders to have them brought to this place, with flour, sugar and coffee so soon as they arrived. If they should arrive before Cap. Allen leaves I v.,fil send them on with him. I will send you as much flour, sugar and coffee as I can. The department has not been officially informed of what the public stores consists. You will inform us of what you are most in need-and if possable it shall be sent.-1 have nothing further official to say. But assure you of my sincere friendship and hope that a victory will reward you for all your difficulties and anxiety. I am with great respect yours Sc. David Thomas Act. Sec. at War P.S.
