necessary to recover the inshurance for the goods lost in the Empress. if you did not See Capt Austin while in New orleans will you be good enough to send me such a Certificate as will do I thought my self that the Certificate you made on the back of the Bill of Lading was sufitient and think so still as all the goods which were not received was totally lost My opinion coincides with Capt Austin that there has been no exertion used to recover by the Messrs Lastrape & Desmere If there is any news from the army let me hear it.
