Natchitoches, La. March 28, 1836
My Dear Sir
I see from the newspapers here, that Messrs. Austin, Wharton and Archer are supposed to be now at the City of Washington, acting as Commissioners under the authority conferred upon them by the late provisional Government. If when Mr. Hamilton and I shall have arrived there, we should find those Gentlemen acting in the same capacity it would place both us and them in a very awkward situation. Will you please, in conjunction with the Cabinet, take this matter into consideration and take such steps with regard to it, as you and they may think proper. I have the honor to be, Sir, with the highest respect Your friend and Obt Servant Geo. C. Childress His Excellency D. G. Burnet

Mr President Dr. Sir
I wrote you at Trinity, I again repeat, to you my course from Washington to this place on meeting Col Robins From Trinity I became convinced that Ebarba was a Traitor I pursued him among his Friends with a view To the Proof of the fact. I calld on Mrs. Dill, she without Interogation informd me that Juan Jose Ebarba told her that he conversed ,vith St Anna, and that he told him "he meant to march his army to Sabine and teach old Jackson to keep his people at home and make them behave themselves." That, St Anna calculat1~d on recicving a large reinforcement from Tamaulipas and Sta Fe (a [blank] when understood,) I have reason to believe that 5000 men have been ordered to Texas, and that about 1000 of them has been disabled by Travis and that our forces is contending agaihst 4000 men.
