[2404) [MCKINNEY to HARDEMAN]
San Felipe 23rd March 1836
To Baily Hardaman Esqr My dear Sir
The government has agreed to the propositions which I laid before them and upon the faith thereof I have joined the Govt in ordering about forty thousand dollars worth of supplies & as a father inducement I have said to our friends in N Orleans that beyond a doubt the drafts one on St John & one on the Bank shall be forthwith sent by express 1n as much as my account were not audited the officers thought as a rule required some indemnity or security on our part that we had demands to that amount against the Government owing to the force of circumstances I am unable to go in person to see you & I could not take securities with me. It is of vital importance that I get the drafts fortlrnrith both to me and the Government I therefore trust you will come over immediately or that you assign the drafts and enclose them to Walter C. White & send him a form of such Bond & let him take the Bond & deliver to us the drafts. I trust my dear sir you will without delay attend to this matter as every thing depends on it
Your friend sincerely Thos. F. McKinney
