As stated in my letter to the acting Governor, I shall go on to raise and fit out a corps of Cavalry, to do which, arrangements must be made as soon as possible for the necessary funds to be placed in my hands, say from fifty to sixty thousand dollars which may be taken from the balance of the first loan here, to be placed in the Bank of Orleans, if my plan be approved, I promise you a corps which would do honour to any country:-if not, I wish the earliest information possible, as I have already entered into heavy engagements which must fall upon my private means.- you must not be surprised to see me among you, in a few months, if my present plans suceed. I shall soon have a large Cotton farm, perhaps several of them under weigh in Texas.- I enclose you a sketch of the trial I have lately undergone:-it is now being published:-1 will send some copies to the Convention- Permit me, in conclusion, to congratulate you upon the cheering prospects you have before you:-look not to the right nor to the left, nor pause, nor hesitate until your Independence is reared, and firmly fixed upon that sacred altar of Liberty, which you have so nobly erected as 'twere upon solitary hope and bravery.-Mr. Grayson is this moment starting lo Natchez'- May the Gods be with you.-1 enclose a few lines to my friend, General Houston:-please forward them to him, and believe me to be The devoted friend of Texas and of Liberty Wm Christy
