I have served as an officer in the United States Army for the span of nine years. have held various appointments civil and military, and have the honour at this time to hold the Commission of Colonel. I am very desirous of participating in your struggle for Independence and Constitutional liberty, and will embark in your cause in any way my services are required. I address you as Chairman of the Committee of Vigilance and Safety and request that this communication may be laid before the Executive authority of the Texian Government to take such order thereon as they may see proper- I have the honour to be with great respect, your obedient servt, Britton Evans To H. Raguel Esqr. Chairman of the Committee of Vigilance & Safety at Nacodoches-
