My intention is that on my arrival in England to issue proposals stating the advantages to be derived and that Texas will accordingly afford that support in Land to Emigrants which no other country ever has and with all proper information given to the Public of the difference between the two Powers now at variance their minds will be as fully affected to the good cause as it is with us-As I have stated no Pecuniary means will be required from the Government of Texas by me but should wish to hold a certain Rank (Military) that would encourage me to fulfil the promises I have given (but require no pay indeed poor distressed Texas cannot afford it) but if I should be successful then let Texas hereafter add according to her means what she would please in requital of services rendered. Yours Respectfully
