We arc equally anxious for its prosperity l\fany of us have fought and aided in repelling the mer- cinary troops of the enemy from its border & have received the certificates of Citizenship and all are ready to engage in such ser- vice as the interest of the country requires. We consider the elective franchise the dearest privilage of freemen and particularly in this important crisis in the affairs of Texas, we feel ourselves entitled & confidently expect to have a voice in forming a government which will claim our obedience support & protection. A Government which we anxiously hope will restore order out of confusion & chaos, & render Texas what her soil & climate entitles her to be-a prosperous & happy coun- try-
