Army of Operations Excellent Senor:

Under separate cover your Excellency will see the conditions which the first division maintains in front of the enemy, and the necessity which exists that you make the army brigades move with celerity, as up to the present they are moving very slowly. Your excellency will command the Purveyor General lo gather all the food supplies and to march immediately, avoiding any delays that might hamper the service of the Nation, as those troops arc lacking in food. Your Excellency will also order that the Treasury, with the Commissary, lake the lead with forced marches, and escorted by a convoy, as there is a very urgent need for money. Your Excellency will order that two or three half cargas of salt come with the Treasury, since there is not a single grain here, and it is needed very much. I trust that your Excellency will act with your usual efficacy and promptness so that these dispositions be fulfilled, as all are urgent. For God and Liberty. General Headquarters of Bejar. February 27, . 1836. Antonio Lopez de Sta. Ana. Most Excellent Senor General, D. Vicente Filisola, Second m Command of the Army of Operations.
