Believing the matters of great importance lo which your attention is here called, I have employed an express who rides up Maj. Moody's horse, I have given him means for his Expenses up. You will pay him in Government drafts S9.00 and let him have a public horse to ride back which I will place in the charge of l\lr Dexter subject to your oder. I hope the greatest dispatch will be given to the matters herein submitted. If I must perish for Texas let it be when I am doing good for the country-and I cannot I know be so advantageously employed as upon the enterprise I now suggest. I feel the necessity of more efficient action in the cause, and that more Judgment and pmdence should be exercised. Provi- sions and clothing, especially Bread stuffs must be pushed Rapidly into Texas, and secured at safe and proper points. If you give heed to my call let your instmctions be very minute and many things entirely confidential..Maj. Lewish has a clear and just conception of the views and existing necessities which I have so completely endeavored to submit to you, in this Letter we conversed upon the subject and concurred in our opinions. A Mr Santlcbcn has just arrived from the interior whose information is regarded and whom Maj. Lewis knows and con- versed with If he be correct, Texas has time to meet the onsets, If her government, be energetic and prompt in action. But every moments delay is dangerous, time wasted in fruitless debate upon plans & measures may leave our country and our homes a sacrifice to the arch enemy who wars against liberty & against Texas be- cause she will not yield her rights. The Provisional Government must strive to gain evidence of its integrity & utility. Let the convention proceed to form a permanent government free from interruption or party anomosities Ever Yrs.
