Henry Smith, and employ such assistants as may be required for that purpose, and his certificate to the persons so employed shall be sufficient evidence for the settlement of the accounts, and a draught on the Treasury.

Nacogdoches, 18th Feb. 1836. Lieut Col. H. l\·lillard will forward the Recruits, now at this post under the command of Lieut Teal - to Washington as soon as practicable, who will report to the Major General on his arrival al that place- It is requisite that the troops shall he concentrated al or near the frontier with all possible dispatch.
