I have recd. a consigment from our agent at New Orleans per Schooner Caroline of three hundred and eighty nine Bbls flour, sixteen of sugar 5 half do Twenty five bags coffee twenty vinegar thirty five boxes soap 15 Boxes sperm candles twelve do tobacco twenty Barrels Beans Fifly of Bread 2 casks of lcquors two tierces rice fifty Bbls pork two boxes Four casks twelve Boxes and Bundles Hardware ten coni mill three smith's Bellows three vices and three anvils, all of which except 15 Bbls flour, 7 Beans, 7 sugar, 6 pork, l sack coffee are in store at Coxes point on Lavaca and receipt for subject to the order of myself, any Captain commanding officer or legal authorized agent of the Govt of Texas and I convey you this information that you may pursue your orders, accordingly, and that no question may arize as to your authority, to order the delivery of the articles since the arival of the Caroline I have recd pr schooner Wm. A. Turner and from the same agent l Box containing 13 doz. woolen socks, 120 pigs led, 160 hags corn, 312 Burshels in all, 1 Box painted canvass, 4 casks Bacon sides, 1 Heavy cart cost $90,00, four ditto shoulders, 5 Boxes medicine, 100 Bbls flour, 6 casks containing 161 coats, 1 Box containing carts Harness 100 leather harnes.s straps covers for wagon 5 casks tin, 504 pieces, 99 iron potts an ;kettles. As I learn that the store-House at coxes point is full I shall return the last shipment till I have from you or receive other orders except one Boat load of about 120 Bbls I shall send to Dimits on the west of Lavaca and shall select such as I think most wanting as medicine, clothing, cookery, utensils and Bacon. I am al great loss to know how lo dispose of this shipment - or any other that may arive as all I have from the army is from rumour, and of course liable to many errors. It is therefore necessary for you to advise me by expressing of your wishes and as often as you may change your position which should be done in time not to leave the shipment subject to seizure by the Enemy. This is important as I correspond regularly with our agent in ·orleans. If that port. is sufficiently Guarisoned and arraingemel8 made lo store the supplies and if you now wish it you will say by expres.s as early as pos.s1ble, and I will send my said Boal burden 100 bbls through lo Copano, with such things as you may order and al the same time will give
