Gen Sam Houston
Dear Sir, This will be delivered by Col. Wm. F. Gray a gentleman who is highly recommended from Fredericksburgh, Vir!!inia - He is one of the stockholders of the Texas loan we " have negotiated in this city and will probably setlle permanently in Texas. I recommend him particularly to your friendly attentions. Yours respectfully S. F. Austin The last accounts from Vera Cruz and Tampico are thal a ten gun brig and two schooners all with heavy armament were to sail soon from the former place, that 1000 men had arrived at the latter bound to Texas, and that Gen Santanna had advanced as far as Saltillo with 3000 men. Also Lhat the federal party had united with Santanna to invade Texas. This, of course, leaves us no remedy but one, which is an imediate declaration of independence. S.F.A. The accounts from Vera Cruz and Tampico arc that the federal party have united with Santanna against Texas- This of course leaves us but one remidy, which is an immediate declaration of indcpcn-
