The following are Lhe specifications and charges prefcreel againsl you, in substance and form as conteniplaled by Lhe Organic Law of the provisional Government of Texas And you are hereby notified to appear al Lhe Town of Washington on the firsl day of March ncxl, and plead lo Lhc same before the Council as per adjourned meeting, or before Lhe Convention of Lhe people of Texas, lo be then and there assembl~d. Specification Isl Perjury Charge Jst For committing a direct violation of the Organic Law, as a Member of the Council of the provisional Government of Texas by sanctioning, countenancing, aiding and abetting in the passage of certain resolutions to depose the legitimate Governor of Texas which bears date 11th day of January last past, as a commissioned officer of the Army- Charge 2d For countenancing, aiding and abetting as a Member of the Council in the appointment of F. W. Johnson to take command of the Army, and fit out an expedition against Matamoras, and J. W. Fannin as Genl. Govt agent to contract loans, fit out expeditions, and make descents at pleasure, to co-operate with said F. W. Johnson & others, controul the armies of Texas, and make war upon our neighbours, contrary to the Declaration of the Conven- tion of the 7th November last, contrary to the will of the constituted authorities, contrary lo the Organic Law, and contrary to your duties as an officer of the army - which act bears date 7th January last pass, and for various other similar acts. Charge 3d For countenancing, aiding, and abelling as a i\Iembcr of the Council, the framing and passing of an Ordinance requiring the Executive to commission McKinney & Williams lo contract a loan for the use of this Govt. for the sum of SI 00,000, setting forth in said Dill that certain commissions, owing to some cliscrepancy, hacl not been acted on, but had been returned to the Council of which you were a member, knowing the same lo be false, to Wit, A
