My dear General
I have received all the news from Texas since you opened the campaign and most heartily congratulate you on the success of your arms & the prospects of Independence before you. I have now a large operation in Texas, in Empresario grants & also, recently, in Genl Mason's grants. The former I consider as nothing, but the latter I fully believe are as good as any titles in this City. I have heard, though, and with some alarm, that the Convention which assembled in December in Texas, and listened lo some propositions relative lo the 400 Leagues which Genl. Williams had procured from Lhe Legislature of 1835. But, I was happy to hear also that no attempt was made lo invalidate or express an opinion to that effect against Mason's titles.
