i\faLamoros, l5Lh. Fehr. l 836 Dear Sir--Since I wrote you last nothing of notoriety has transpired. The forces of Lhe government are gradually augment- ing, and by the end of this month will probably amount al this place to 2000 men. It is expect~d Lhal the line of march will be taken up about the first of next month. General Santa-Arma is on his way from Saltillo lo Lhc presidio del Rio Grande, where he will cross, as we are informed. The next month will bP- taken up in moving the army across the country lo Texas. By about April we may expect that hostilities will commence. I am ignorant of the real force of the Texians, but those of this side arc represented lo be about l0,000-Commercial business is very dull here; and provisions very scarce and high. In short, Lime are hard, very hard, and some know not what to do.
