Department of War and Marine, Mexico, February 9, J 836. iVlosl Excellent Sir: His excellency the President ad interim of the l\lcxican republic, in virtue of the powers granted to him by the lsl and 2d articles of the decree of the General Congress of the 22d of February, 1832, closing such ports as are occupied by forces which obey not the Government, has been pleased to order the following: 1st. The ports of Matamoras, la Baca, San Luis, Galveston, Brazoria, Harrisburg, Goliad, Anahuac, .Copano, and all those in insurrection on the coast of Texas, from longitude 94· 50' to 101 • IO' west of London, are closed against all foreign commerce, direct or coastwise. 2d. This order shall lake effect 30 days after its publica- tion in this city for vessels proceeding from foreign ports of the Gulf of Mexico, and 90 days for those beyond that sea. 3d. This order shall remain in force until annulled by the Government; and in order that it may be duly executed, I communicate it lo you, by command of his excellency the President ad interim, that you may make it known to the foreign diplomatic agents, and to whomsoever it concerns. God and liberty.
