Dear Genl.
not a word from San Felipe since the arrival of l\fajor Bennet who met you at Beasons. Col. Fannin is al my house and has been a number of days endeavoring lo obtain an organisation of the Army which is not likely to take place, last evening a meeting of the Officers took place and an Election was to have taken place to day, a number of speeches and fine quotations (Burk from Burk) rejoinder after rejoinder and all ended in smoak. Colonels Johnson & Grant are al San PatTicio with about fifty men they left immediately after you left this place. Col. Fannin says the whole number of lToops at this and San PatTicio is about 400 men, the newly created officer called an Agent for the expedition to Matamoras has correct views as to the organisation of the lToops if he has the command there shall be no inclependant volunteers recognized hy him. I and my little family are well. I have put off writing till late and can add no more.
I have the Honor to be Verry Respectfully your Obt. Servt Ira Westover
