Army of Operalions Excellent Senor:
I am advised by your excellency's official letter of the 5th of this month, and by the summary which accompanied it, that there remain only two mules of the eight that were pulling a howitzer to the Headquarters al Bejar. Since, according to your Excellency's statement of the condition of these mules, they are unable to continue working, you will order that they be sold, seeing lo it that the sale price is turned over lo the General Treasury of the Army. Excellent Senor:
I have instructed the IV]ilitary Commander of this city, Captain D. Vicente Arriola, that beginning early tomorrow morning he is to place al Castanos ten men of the garrison companies with an officer of his trust, who are lo patrol continuously all the trails and roads for the purpose of arresting deserters. They are lo remain there until the army has lefl. When this has taken place they shall pass on lo the Hermanas estate where they shall do the same thing.
