Wm Christy, Dr Sir, Being apprizcd how grcal an interest you have kindly taken in the welfare of Texas, in her effort for freedom, and the Rights of man, 1 herewith send you a copy of a leller from Col. F. W. Johnson, of the volunteer army, on the Western frontier; where the Division under Col. J. W. Fannin Jr. has joined him, and the combined army will march against the City of l\latamoras and every town & village in the Valley of the Rio Grand must inevitably fall into our hands, and soon, very soon, the murderer of our Counlrymen, at Tampcco, will be made to cower in fear at the name of an Anglo American; our fleet will cooperate by sea. thus concenlralecl & combined our forces will compel the black flag Lo come clown al Matamoras, as they did at San Antonio De Bexar. I entertain no doubt of success in this campaign, & permanent independence.
