Enclosed is my account for money ($2926) actually expended in sending Volunteers to Texas, accompanied by a letter from the Committee of Correspondence, and the Chairman and secretary of the meeting, under whose information the whole mather was conducted, except the amount paid by yourselfs and Mr. Wilson, which you can establish thur if any thing more should be necessary, hut I presume that these documents will be satisfactory lo the Texas Commissioners and Government, but if it sould still be necessary, please send a copy of the acct. to Col. Ward and ask him to certify it, if you can find out where to write him, which I presume you can- In addition to this expenditure in the cause of Texas I have there gi,,ing Men in the Country aU of whom have paid liberally for for the support of war, and are now all in the Army themselves- Please present all that papers to the proper authorities and attend to the business for me- Respectfully yours Robt.
