Washington 30th Deer 35 Mr. Cook a Volunteer will hand you this note, and tell you the news. He is our friend Houston [at bottom:] Answer lo the information sent him that Mr. Moore & Frank Adams were coming up to Washington from San Felipe to assassinate him [C. B. Stewart] [Addressed:] To Doct. C. B. Stewart San Felipe Mr. Cook (1661] [HOUSTON ORDERS] Army Orders Head Quarters, Texas Washington 30th Dec 1835 Captain J. M. Allen of the Infantry having received permission to repair to New Orleans and recruit men for the service of Texas, will proceed to that point, and has authority to draw on the Pay Master General and Qt Master General also, for such funds as may be necessary to meet the Contingencies of each Department, resulting from the recruits made, and Expenses incident, to the duties of Capt. Allen. The liberality of the Committee of New Orleans will it is hoped, render all present facilities- The Capacity and high estimation in which Capt Allen is held in the Service of Texas, will insure the most happy results, from any facilities which may be placed at his disposal.
