To D. J. Mitchell Sir

Should you find it practicable to introduce Volunteers from the United States into Texas by the first of March next they will be accepted by the Government. A Platoon will consist of 28 men rank & file 2 sergeants & 2 Corporals - a Company of 2 platoons or 56 men rank & file 1 Captain 1 first & one 2d Lieutenants 4 sergeants & 4 Corporals & 2 musicians - Five Companies will constitute one Battallion & Two Battallions one Regiment commanded by 1 Colonel 1 Lieut Colonel & 1 l\'lajor. The monthly pay of the privates will be 8$ per month Corporals 10$ Sergeants llS. The pay of the Officers & non Commissioned Staff will be the same which is established in the Regular Army of the United States. The Volunteers will elect their own officers. Bounty land given is 640 acres beside the rights of Citisenship to those who volunteer their services for 2 years or during the War & if for one year 320 acres of land. If for a shorter period than one year no Bounty of land will be given. To all accepted Volunteers will be given pay ration & clothing with the rights of Citisenship.
