Houston & Green and all other officers, & accept for yourself my warmest wishes for your wellfare & happiness while I have the honor to be Yrs &c A Huston Qr Mr Genl [3826] [MENARD to ALL] To all to whom this may be presented, be it known that I have employed Isidore Pantallion as a secret and confidential agent to ascertain the movements and detect the plans of our enemies in this part of the country; and as his movements might become and appear suspicious to our citizens, (to whom he is not permitted to explain himself,) and he cannot explain himself to any other than to me, and to Lieutenant Jos. Bonnell, of the United States army, to whom· alone his movements are known, I therefore give him the present as a certificate to bear evidence in his favor to any author• ity before whom he may be arraigned or brought before for an explanation of his conduct, in case I should not be present to bear evidence in his favor personally.
