We presume Com Hawkins is off Matamoras as he was Lo sail direct from here, if not there is no Govt Vessel to enforce the Blockade- The Flora takes down aboul 40 Volunteers & Lhe DeKalb, will take aboul the same number to leave here day after tomorrow- We cannol get a vessel for Copano to carry Govt Freight unless it is paid in advance. It is irnpossible for us al this moment to do so- We shall ship a small cargo bread Rice Salt & Flour, with orders to touch off Velasco, but if we ship iL in the San Jacinto she cannot go into to Copano on a/c her Drafl of Water- Flour has advanced to S9½ to 10$ p Bbl & all kinds of produce are hiah- " We notice that an attempt has been made to Steal Santa Anna- Now we were informed yeslerday that Tremundo his Brother in Law had left here a few days ago for Texas but we could not asccrtrain by what Vessel or what route- We presume he will make an attempt to sec him- The accounts from Matamoras is thal Lhe army is daily diminishing by desertion & no money in the Treasury- The Scrip already issued by us is as follows 15 Certificates in the name of Saml.
