of the Enemy at Copino since which time his misfortunes I believe have been known lo you and from what has Transpired since It would appear as If those misfortunes have been used to prejudice his claims on our country and when a Vacancy offered for his promotion an officer of Lower grade (of whom however he speaks very highly) is advanced above him. I have observed the Dissipline in Maj Millers camp as not having been surpassed by any in our army and while at San Felipe the Readiness he manifested in sustaining the Government against an attempt of the mob convinces me that he is devoted to good order and obedience to the Laws and from the Recommendatory Papers he Presented that he is no doubt a Gentleman and soldier. I hope you will as far as is consistent with your duty use your Influence that Maj ~lillers claims upon their confidence will be properly appreciated. I remain with high consideration your

To the Pres. of the Republic of Texas Sir:

It is deemed prudent by the commanding gen!. to make out such a bill of articles as will be necessary to carry through the approaching campaign for the liberty of Texas and the commander in common with the other Gen! officers hope & pray the Government will take such immediate and efficient steps to forward the articles to the head quarters of the Army at Lynns. Lending upon l\latagorda hay as soon as possible. The articles needed lo carry through the campaign are

l 00 boxes sugar 100 bags coffee 5 boxes black lea (500 lbs)
