Pursuant Lo an order of the President of the Republic of Texas, a court martial was holden at Velasco on the 25th August. Republic of Texas [1836 I On sundry charges, viz, disobedience vs. of orders, drunkenness while on duty. J. F. Kaufman The court martial finding the prisoner guilty on both charges, sentence the prisoner to be condemned lo labor three months at the public works on Galveston Island, with ball and chains, hut the Court recommend him strongly to the mercy of the Executive. Adjourned, sine die.

I enclose you some duplicates of communications made
some time ago.
That a miscarriage should occur in the small route from this ~o the army is somewhat singular. It betrays at least a great defect m the organisation or in the management of mail. I apprehend the person you put at the head of the messenger tribe would do heller writing doggrcls in the indolence of the camp, than superintending an arrangement that constantly requires allcntion & some practical good sense.
