Sir There is an inconsistency between the Constitution of Texas and the Executive Ordinance as to dates the· former being on the 17th March and the latter the 16th of that month. I should presume that as the ordinance must have followed the other act the former shoul~ be_ar date either of the same day or subsequent to that of the Const1tut10n Perhaps it is a typographical error but it is an important one in the History of the Country, and as you were a member of the Convention I will thank you to inform me whether my suggestions are right or not- . I have the honor to be Your ob sevl To the Hon Bailey Hardeman Henry M Marfil Secy of the Treasury and acting Secy of State of Texas.
