The presumplion is that you have come lo the very flallering and lamentable conclusion lhal your immutable friend R. Brown is no more; fifleen minutes previous lo this lhe Corior arrived bringing inleligence contradictory of the death of Brown; he still lives and is quile sanguinly anlicipaling the day when he will again "smile in the festive hall," in consert with those whom he used lo mingle. Thirty days will nol crown our heads unlill the City of Mitimoras shall mingle its ashes with vary dust from which it originated ("From dusl lo dusl thou shall return") That g[ a J Hant hand lhc Georgia Ballalion though dilapidated has left behind a feanix ever ready lo perpeluale them-namely they will continue ever to be revenged whilst there is one drop of blood in the veins of a true Georgian to moisten lhe earth beneath his feel, in great haste this wrilen to mitigate the Suffering which has undubiably long eer this lime soarly and heavily taxed the broken hearts of the best of Parents This l wish you lo immediately communicate to Major Brown which may temporarily alleviate his troubled mind. Major Genl Lamar will be without. doubt our next vice President he will have no oposition; he has but few enemies; none formadable; his hilrnit is honesty; his shield his mind; and his weapon his pen in facl he is in posesion of every qualification to constitule him the Jefferson of Texas he is good great and wise; no more Yours immutably William D.
