Aug 19th 1836
To David G. Burnet
President of the Republic of Texas Honoured Sir,
. i\lr Thomp$on who will hand you this letter, is anxious lo have his claims against Government audited, in order Lhal he may provide himself with some clothes-He is almost naked having been near nine months in the service without clothing or pay. I am myself quite as destitute as he is and feel equally anxious, that he may succeed in having his accounts settled. I understand that ;\lessrs McKinney & Williams receive drafts upon the Treasury in payment for clothing. My health has been very bad, but is now nearly restored. Remember me with much respect to Mrs Burnet & receive
for yourself the assurance of my highest esteem
