I-laving been ordered by the Aclg Seely of War to provide transports for 1400 men, I therefore take Lhe liberty lo address you on the subject of your Sehr Julius Caesar 1 wish lo charter her for the trip lo Copano &c You will no doubt render an essential service to the county by accomodaling us with the vessel & you shall be amply paid for her service be pleased lo write me by the first opportunily and let me know whether I may depend on her With high respect I have the honor lo be Yrs &c A Huston Qr i\'lr Genl [ 4018] [HUSTON to RUSK]

I received yours of 8 Augl. calling for 20 Sells harness, and have taken the necessary steps Lo procure them, & will forward them by the first opportunity. I have been ordered by the Actg Secty of War to furnish transports for 1400 men and forward them to Copano, I have ordered them. There will be two Steam Boats the "Ocean" & "Laura." I have also ordered Qr Mr Caldwell lo have 50 cords wood provided al some convenient point near Copano, for the Boats and shall also forward all the supplies we have With due respect I have the honor lo be Your ob. Servt.&c
