They calculaled no doubt that l would be fool enough for Lhe sake of fame or vanily to rish all upon the hazardous attack, but in this they mistake. I have no disposition to sacrifice myself much less the Country by any fool hardy risk. However it would swell my lelter to too great a length to five you any Lhing like the outlines. Mr Perry has pul his hands to Cutting Steam Boaf Wood. And the people of this neighbourhood have been notified that wood is needed by the Govt. and I presume they will set their hands to cutting. I do most earnestly recommend that you hurry the arrangements for all the transports and supplies called for by Gen Rusk, and by Archer & Wharton. Send for the Quarter Master General Col A.
