Capt J. Brown Commander of the Texian Sehr. Invincible proceeds to Newyork for the purpose of repairing his vessel He will necessarily incur some expenses and if you can furnish him with five hundred dollars you would confer a favor upon [the] Government- Should it not be conv[enient] to furnish lhe money you will please supply Brown with script lo the amount of 500 dollars which I trust he will be en (bled] to dispose of in New York to answer [his] current purposes
